Compare & Contrast

Both Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till are African American. They were killed at a very young age. There has been no clear explanation of why they were really killed for and who. The difference would be that the death of Emmett Till was much more crutial than Trayvon's. Emmett was beated, and they took out his eyeball and drowned him in a river. Trayvon was shot in Florida while walking around with him hood up to his father's house. There's much more detail to these two different cases but these are the most important.

Persepolis Blog #1

When I first started reading this, Marjane was introduced to the new law of wearing a veil. No one really understood why it was necessary but they still wore it. After that, all bilingual schools just because it was a symbol of capitalism. Later on in my reading, I see that Marjane finds out that her grandfather was a prince. She was amzaed by the fact her grandfather was a prince. She later on becames bummed because she was then told he was put in prison. It was pretty tough for her mom, and grandmother at that time. I think Marjane wants to become a prophet because she has a connection with God. She always talks to him about everything going on and she really wants to change everything that is going on in her environment.

Six Word Memoir Final Draft

What inspired me to write about my mom, was that great relation we both share. Even though we have a few downs, she means the world to me. She's been by my side all my life, and I thank her for that. I say she is my bestfriend because I can literally tell her anything and she won't judge me or get mad unless there's a reason to. We both goof around with eachother, tell eachother our secrets, our problems, and the list goes on. There was a time where I was sad about loosing one of my "best friends" and my mother was there to console me. Her words went like this, "Friends come and go. You won't always have that friend by your side. In time you'll realize that there are two different types of friends; the kind of friend you can trust and the kind of friend that is fun to be around with. You're only best friend will be your mom, because a mom won't ever leave." I agree with her because not everyone that you enjoy hanging around with, you can trust. Overall, it's true; my mom is my best friend.

Six Words Memoir Day 1

1. The meaning of my six words memoir is basically about how I am always dreaming big, and full of goals.
2.
Soon my dreams will come true.

3. I am thinking of taking a picture of myself surrounded with all the things I like and dream of.
For example, I will have my dancing shoes next to me meaning some day I dream of becoming a professional dancer, a basketball next to me symbolizing my interest in basketball and how I wish to become a great skilled player like my dad, school books and pencils will also be present, just because I will some day go to college and become someone. There's more items I will add but that is how I visualize an image for this six word memoir.

Whale Rider

I seemed to fall deep into this movie. It's different from any other film, that's a fact. The whole setting was amazing, along with such great characters. Pai really grabbed my attention with her personality. Even though her grandfather did not believe she was the one, she tried her best to change his mentality on how only males can become chief. I personally did not like Koro because he was rough to Pai, especially when he was yelling at her in front of the boys so that she'd apologize. I'm glad Pai had her grandmother support her all along because she really didn't have anyone by her side. The ending can sort of relate to the quote, "You never know what you had, until it's gone." I say this because at the end Koro seemed to finally realize that his granddaughter was the one, although it was too late. Once the whole incident with Pai happened at the end he seemed to value her more because he is now aware of what she did, and what almost happened to her.
