Whale Rider

I seemed to fall deep into this movie. It's different from any other film, that's a fact. The whole setting was amazing, along with such great characters. Pai really grabbed my attention with her personality. Even though her grandfather did not believe she was the one, she tried her best to change his mentality on how only males can become chief. I personally did not like Koro because he was rough to Pai, especially when he was yelling at her in front of the boys so that she'd apologize. I'm glad Pai had her grandmother support her all along because she really didn't have anyone by her side. The ending can sort of relate to the quote, "You never know what you had, until it's gone." I say this because at the end Koro seemed to finally realize that his granddaughter was the one, although it was too late. Once the whole incident with Pai happened at the end he seemed to value her more because he is now aware of what she did, and what almost happened to her.
